The 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N, a stylish performance-oriented compact sedan, has been unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show. Australian fans can expect this upgraded model to be available in local markets by the year's end.

Showcased through a series of photographs on the automaker's social media, the 2024 i30 Sedan N manifests a more striking design than its predecessor, inspired by Hyundai's motorsport undertakings. It flaunts a dynamic design language, exemplifying Hyundai's commitment to innovation.

Significant exterior revisions include a more pronounced face with the N Division's trademark red accent strips elegantly extending across the lower body, outlining the front lip spoiler, side skirts, and rear diffuser. The reshaped bumpers and new-look 19-inch alloy wheels contribute to the model's athletic appeal, further amplified by new black badging.

Hyundai's latest i30 Sedan N is built on a fresh platform, sharing only the powertrain with its European-originated siblings, the i30 Hatch N and Fastback N. These new dimensions are hinted at in images of the car sporting dark lightweight forged alloy wheels, standard on the i30 Hatch N and Fastback N.

Inside, it's assumed the changes will be subtle, focused on trim, tech, and seating updates, given the standard model's interior remains largely unchanged. As of now, Hyundai has not released any interior images or specifics about drivetrain updates.

The current i30 Sedan N is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, outputting 206kW and 393Nm, with an overboost function increasing power to 213kW for brief intervals. Power is sent to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic transmission. With the addition of an adaptive electromechanical front differential, power is delivered more effectively.

The performance specifications are impressive; when equipped with the DCT, the i30 Sedan N achieves 0-100km/h in just 5.3 seconds. This makes it a fraction faster than the i30 Hatch N and Kona N by 0.2 seconds.

The updated i30 Sedan N will take its place at the top of the facelifted range, also introducing a 1.6-litre hybrid option for the first time. The pricing remains largely unchanged, with a marginal rise anticipated on the current model's price tag of $50,200.

Finally, there are suggestions of enhancements to the car's safety and cruise control systems. The radar sensor visible on the lower front bumper hints at the inclusion of adaptive cruise control and an advanced autonomous emergency braking system capable of detecting cyclists and oncoming traffic at intersections.

The eagerly awaited 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N is slated for an Australian release towards the end of 2024.
