Kia has announced pricing for its all-electric, supercar-rivalling EV6 GT that will start from $99,590 before on-road costs
The 2023 Kia EV6 GT is now making waves in the automotive world, with a substantial price tag to match its impressive specs. With third-party pricing data suggesting a suggested retail price (RRP) of around $99,950, this sleek machine represents Kia's most expensive and fastest offering to date.
The EV6 GT's price stands $12,000 higher than its sibling, the EV6 GT-Line AWD, and close to the $96,700 price tag of the Tesla Model Y Performance. With a potent mix of high performance and luxury, the Kia EV6 GT is truly an exceptional beast in the electric vehicle market.
At its heart, the EV6 GT features robust drive motors located at the front and rear axles, delivering a powerful punch of 430kW and a peak torque of 740Nm. These figures translate to a rapid 0-100km/h time of approximately 3.5 seconds, and an impressive maximum speed of 260km/h.
Compared to the next most muscular EV6 variant – the AWD dual-motor model, which offers 239kW and 605Nm – the EV6 GT outdoes it with an astounding 80 per cent power boost.
Kia claims EV6 GT has 424km of electric driving range, from a 77.4kWh battery pack – down 60km from the GT-Line AWD's 484km claim, using the same battery (but smaller 20-inch wheels and less extreme tyres).
To help manage this increased power, the EV6 GT features an electronic limited-slip differential and an adaptive suspension that automatically adjusts its damping force according to various factors, including vehicle speed, road conditions, cornering, stopping, and acceleration.
Beyond its exceptional performance figures, the EV6 GT provides owners with a luxurious and high-tech driving experience. For instance, the GT Drive Mode configures multiple vehicle systems into their most dynamic settings, while the Drift Mode lets drivers experience exhilarating sideways drifting.
Further enhancing the driving experience, Kia has implemented additional body bracing in the GT model, resulting in increased body rigidity, enhanced vehicle responsiveness, and more agile handling.
The EV6 GT's development involved rigorous testing and fine-tuning at the famed Nurburgring in Germany before being adjusted for Australian conditions. This international pedigree adds an extra layer of allure to the vehicle, further boosting its appeal.
Despite its impressive credentials, the EV6 GT is not just about power and speed. It also boasts a host of luxurious features and technological advancements that set it apart.
These include 21-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires, adaptive LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch screens, a 14-speaker Meridian stereo, an augmented-reality head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and a suite of advanced safety features, among others.
With the Kia EV6 GT's arrival, it seems the Stinger's role as Kia's performance flagship will be replaced, although the twin-turbo V6 liftback is expected to stick around for 2023 at least.
