2024 Range Rover Evoque facelift unveiled, tech upgrade is the main change

The revitalized Range Rover Evoque is slated to make its debut by the close of the year, equipped with the brand's newest technology features and introducing a high-end Autobiography version.

Unveiling a reimagined 2024 Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover announces its Australian debut, anticipated to take place in December. Now open for orders, the model doesn't venture too far from its external original look, maintaining its signature appeal.

Not diverging dramatically from its predecessor, the latest Evoque redesign pivots on refinement. The front grille has been reworked, adding a touch of sophistication to the vehicle's smooth contour.

The newly released Evoque model year 2024 (MY24) begins at $81,800 for the P250 Dynamic SE base model, a slight price increase compared to its preceding model. The pricing scales up to $117,300 for the novel P300e Autobiography, a plug-in hybrid flagship variant – these prices are exclusive of on-road expenses.

What has changed?

The exterior modifications are understated, primarily centered on a redesigned grille to synergize with the Range Rover family, along with new Pixel LED headlights showcasing an intricate design effect and refreshed daytime running light graphics.

The new color palette includes Arroios Grey, Tribeca Blue, and Corinthian Bronze. Additional options for contrast roof designs in Narvik Black and Corinthian Bronze are on offer based on specific model specifications.

Eight distinctive alloy wheel designs are available, with up to 21 inches in diameter. Exclusive to the Dynamic HSE and Autobiography models, five new finishes and diamond-turned options have been introduced.

The cabin is where the most notable transformations are unveiled, with enhancements sweeping across all trim levels. The cockpit now boasts an 11.4-inch floating, curved infotainment touchscreen with JLR’s Pivi Pro operating system, mirroring features from the Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The newly positioned display brings functions closer to the driver, creating additional storage space. Furthermore, wireless smartphone charging has become a standard feature.

This expansive display acts as a control hub for various features, eliminating the need for the secondary screen used previously.

Amazon Alexa voice recognition technology has been integrated, enhancing connectivity. It enables drivers to use voice commands for controlling various car functions. Compatibility with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the incorporation of twin embedded eSIM technology and cloud-based architecture, enables access to a variety of connected services such as Spotify and Deezer.

A remote application allows features such as remote locking and unlocking, pre-conditioning the interior, and scheduling charges for the P300e PHEV.

The revised interior design now exudes a minimalist vibe. Interestingly, the gear selector stands as the only physical control on the central console.

The Evoque now features Cabin Air Purification Plus, hailed as one of the most advanced interior air quality technologies in its category.

Available as a standard feature on the Autobiography and an optional addition to other models via the Comfort Pack, this innovative purification system offers PM2.5 filtration and CO2 management, promising a heightened alertness for the driver by monitoring and controlling CO2 levels inside the car.

The system uses nanoe X technology to ward off pathogens and significantly diminish odours, bacteria, and allergens. It also features an Air Quality Index app allowing passengers to keep track of outside air quality at the car’s location and their destination.

In the facelifted Evoque, material quality has been given a substantial upgrade. JLR teamed up with Danish textile firm Kvadrat to provide sustainable, leather-alternative options. Traditional leather remains available for purists.

Engine Options

The Evoque's engine range remains consistent, with standard offerings of four-wheel drive and mild-hybrid.

The Australian market will continue to provide P250 and P300e versions of the Range Rover Evoque, the former being a four-cylinder 48V mild-hybrid and the latter a three-cylinder plug-in hybrid.

The 2024 lineup will introduce a second variant of the P300e plug-in hybrid, with the new Autobiography specification joining the existing Dynamic HSE model.

The Evoque P300e unites a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with an 80kW electric motor and a 14.9kWh lithium-ion battery. This combination brings a system power output of 309PS (227kW), achieving 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.

The P300e's electric vehicle (EV) range is reported to reach "up to 66 kilometres" per full charge, with an "expected" practical range improving to 48 kilometres, thanks to an updated battery chemistry.

Land Rover's total practical range for the Evoque P300e is said to be up to 651 kilometres, with CO2 emissions registering at 49g/km of CO2.

In terms of charging, the plug-in hybrid supports DC fast charging, enabling a fully charged battery in an estimated 30 minutes. The 2024 Evoque iteration demonstrates Range Rover's commitment to merging luxury and sustainability, seamlessly integrating high-tech features into an already compelling vehicle.
