First landing in Ti and Veloce forms, the recently updated Stelvio is available to purchase now
Alfa Romeo has officially revealed the pricing details for its revamped Stelvio SUV, now ready for purchase at the showrooms. The Ti version, now serving as the baseline for the Stelvio series, starts at a price point of $76,450 excluding on-road charges. The mid-tier Veloce, on the other hand, is priced at $82,950 before on-road costs.
The refreshed Stelvio is expected to be in stiff competition with vehicles such as the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and the Porsche Macan, similar to the previous iteration. Alfa Romeo Australia remains tight-lipped about the pricing for the top-tier Quadrifoglio variant, though it is expected to hit Australian showrooms between October and December this year.
Considering the unchanged $82,950 price tag for the Stelvio Veloce, it is plausible that the updated Quadrifoglio might also maintain its previous price of $160,700 before on-road costs.
The Stelvio has undergone subtle facelift changes, the most notable of which is a new grille. Drawing inspiration from the recent updates to the Giulia sedan, the most significant changes to the Stelvio are concentrated in the front end.
Standard on the Stelvio is a new LED Matrix headlight system, accompanied by a refreshed finish on the three air intakes. External standard features for the Stelvio include 19-inch wheels for the entry-level Ti and 20-inch alloys for the Veloce. The Veloce variant also receives red brake calipers, a dark front bezel, and a unique rear diffuser.
The interior of the Stelvio has received an upgrade in the form of a 12.3-inch digital cluster, complemented by an 8.8-inch infotainment display. This system includes satellite navigation, as well as wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Additional standard features for the base Ti variant include heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless phone charger. The Veloce version adds leather sports seats, aluminum shift paddles, and a premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. A sunroof is available as an option for both variants, adding a $2700 increase to the base price.
Both the Ti and Veloce models of the Stelvio are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, capable of outputting 206kW and 400Nm. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that transfers power to all wheels. The Veloce variant distinguishes itself by featuring a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
In terms of safety, both the Ti and Veloce models of the Stelvio come equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety features. These include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and a host of other driver-assist technologies aimed at promoting a safer driving experience.
Both variants also come equipped with a rear-view camera and parking sensors. The Veloce model further enhances the safety profile with the addition of blind-spot monitoring, offering an extra layer of protection on the road.
Performance-wise, the Stelvio continues to impress. The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine offers a brisk driving experience, whether you're navigating city streets or hitting the open road. The added limited-slip differential in the Veloce variant ensures improved handling, stability, and traction, especially under more demanding driving conditions.
Interior comfort and convenience haven't been overlooked either. The new digital instrument cluster provides a clear, easy-to-read display, ensuring all crucial information is at the driver's fingertips. The updated infotainment system offers seamless smartphone integration, making it easy to stay connected on the move.
The cabin also benefits from a range of quality materials and comfort-oriented features. Heated seats offer additional warmth on colder days, while the dual-zone climate control ensures a comfortable environment for all occupants. The optional sunroof adds to the premium feel, allowing natural light to flood into the cabin and offering a more spacious, airy feel.
In conclusion, the refreshed Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers a compelling blend of style, performance, and luxury. Its competitive pricing, coupled with a generous list of standard features, makes it an appealing option for those in the market for a high-end SUV. With its expected arrival at Australian dealerships later this year, interested buyers should start making their plans now.
