2024 BMW XM Label Red price and specs revealed
As the most powerful vehicle in BMW’s history, the XM Label Red commands a hefty six-figure price

Unveiling the latest addition to their high-performance vehicle lineup, BMW has announced the pricing for their newest models of the XM plug-in hybrid SUV. The BMW XM Label Red and the XM Label Red Edition, both set to debut in the local market in the last quarter of 2023, bear a starting price of $344,200 and $349,900 (pre on-road costs) respectively.

To draw a comparison, the standard XM model, which is slated for release in early 2023, is tagged at $297,900 prior to on-road costs. For comprehensive price and specification details of the standard XM model, please refer to our dedicated article [here].

The Label Red variants boast a more formidable rendition of the XM's twin-turbocharged V8 plug-in hybrid engine, producing a system output of 550kW and 1000Nm, a considerable increase of 70kW and 200Nm from the standard XM. The acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is reduced to a stunning 3.8 seconds, a half-second improvement from the standard model.

Driving this performance increase is a V8 engine upgraded to deliver 430kW and 750Nm, a surge of 100Nm over the standard XM. The Label Red Edition, a limited-edition release with only 500 units produced worldwide, showcases 30 units bound for Australia, draped in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black metallic with a vibrant Toronto Red waistline accent.

The Label Red's unique aesthetic draws parallels to iconic classics like the Ford Gran Torino from Starsky & Hutch and the A-Team’s van. Additional red accents adorn the double-kidney grille frame and the rear diffuser. On the inside, the Label Red Edition features a Fiona Red and Black Merino leather finish, with a "1 of 500" commemorative plaque adding a touch of exclusivity.

Both the XM Label Red and Label Red Edition are powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre petrol V8, coupled with a synchronous electric motor and a 25.7kWh lithium-ion battery. The powertrain employs an eight-speed automatic transmission alongside a rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, topped with an electronically controlled locking rear differential. The entire system delivers a whopping 550kW of power and 1000Nm of torque, with an impressive 0-100km/h sprint of 3.8 seconds.

Notably, the XM Label Red models claim an electric range of up to 83km under the stricter WLTP cycle, with a combined fuel consumption rating of 1.6-1.7L/100km.

Dimensionally, the BMW XM spans 5110mm in length, 2005mm in width, and 1755mm in height, with a 3105mm wheelbase. In terms of after-sales, BMW offers a five-year BMW Service Inclusive package along with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty for the XM.

The BMW XM Label Red is scheduled for arrival in Australian showrooms by the end of 2023, reinforcing BMW's commitment to high-performance, cutting-edge hybrid technology.
