2023 Skoda Scala price and specs revealed

Skoda has streamlined the options for the 2023 edition of their Scala model. The selection has been pared down to just two variations, and exclusively features an automatic transmission.

For 2023, the Skoda Scala has been slimmed down to just two variants due to semiconductor shortages. This small hatch range now starts with a new 85TSI Ambition variant and is topped by the 110TSI Signature.

The 2023 Skoda Scala 85TSI Ambition now starts from $33,490 drive-away, a $500 increase from early this year. The top-spec 110TSI Signature now starts from $41,490 drive-away, a $2,500 increase from last year's $38,990.

The mid-range Scala Monte Carlo variant has been axed for 2023 and is no longer available to the Australian market. The base model 85TSI Ambition no longer has the option for the Tech Pack and Driver Support Pack, which previously added features like a larger screen, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, front parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring.

The 110TSI Ambition's manual transmission has also been discontinued, along with the Tech Pack and Driver Support Pack options, to increase production availability.

Engine Performance and Fuel Efficiency

The base model, 85TSI Ambition, features a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque. The top-tier Signature is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque. Both engines come paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission powering the front wheels.

The combined fuel economy is 5.3L/100km for the 85kW engine and 5.5L/100km for the 110kW engine. They both have a 50L fuel tank and require 95 RON premium unleaded petrol.

Safety

The 2023 Skoda Scala has a five-star ANCAP safety rating, based on testing conducted in 2019. The Scala comes standard with seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, driver fatigue detection, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, and tyre pressure monitoring.

However, due to semiconductor shortages, blind-spot monitoring is now an optional feature on both models.

Warranty and Servicing

Skoda offers a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty on the Scala, along with 12 months of complimentary roadside assistance which can be renewed after each service at a Skoda dealer. Scheduled servicing is required every 15,000km or 12 months, whichever comes first.

Customers have the option to purchase prepaid Service Packs or subscribe to Servicing Plans, with options for seven-year/105,000km ($2500), five-year/75,000km ($1800), or four-year/60,000km plans.

Dimension

The 2023 Skoda Scala measures 4362mm long, 1793mm wide, and 1471mm tall, with a 2649mm wheelbase. The boot has a capacity of 467L when the rear seats are upright, and this increases to 1410L with the seats folded.

The Scala 85kW can tow up to 1200kg when braked and 600kg unbraked, while the 110kW model can tow 1250kg when braked and 620kg unbraked.
