2023 Citroen C5 Aircross: revised price and specs revealed
As the sole C5 Aircross model on sale in Australia, the Sport replaces the outgoing Shine

In the realm of mid-sized SUVs, Citroen's C5 Aircross, a prominent player, ushers in a breath of fresh air. The 2023 model, sporting a price tag starting from $54,990 excluding on-road costs, is set to grace Australian showrooms from April 2023. Touting an advanced drivetrain, enhanced features, and an impressive tech upgrade, this latest iteration comes at a nominal price increase of $2690 over the 2022 model.

Flaunting an invigorated design, the 2023 C5 Aircross is anticipated to compete strongly against other vehicles in its segment such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Volkswagen Tiguan, and its cousin, the Peugeot 3008. The new pricing positions the revamped C5 Aircross in line with the high-spec versions of Asian competitors, and between the base Allure and mid-range GT versions of the Peugeot 3008.

The 2023 C5 Aircross houses a potent 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which has been tuned to deliver 133kW at 5500rpm and 250Nm at 1650rpm. This is a noteworthy bump from the 121kW output of the previous model. The new powertrain is complemented by an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous six-speed version.

Committed to efficiency, Citroen announces a combined fuel consumption of just 5.7L per 100km for the new model. Furthermore, the SUV's CO2 emissions are measured at 130g/km. This improved engine performance aligns with the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

In terms of physical specifications, the C5 Aircross measures 4500mm in length, 1859mm in width, and 1695mm in height, with a 2730mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 182mm. The SUV also provides an ample luggage capacity, ranging between 580L to 1630L.

Beyond the robust exterior and enhanced powertrain, the C5 Aircross provides comprehensive support for owners. It comes with a five-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance, and a five-year Service Price Promise program. Regular maintenance is recommended every 12 months or 20,000km, with three- and five-year pre-paid servicing plans available.

Safety is paramount for Citroen, and the new model is equipped with several advanced safety features, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot monitoring, emergency brake assist, highway driver assist, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, active lane centring, lane departure warning, road edge detection, and tyre pressure monitoring.

The refreshed C5 Aircross sees numerous added luxuries, such as full leather seat upholstery, heated front seats, driver's seat massage functionality, and a large 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. A panoramic sunroof, previously a costly extra, now comes as a standard feature.

The 2023 Citroen C5 Aircross represents a substantial step forward for the brand in terms of power, efficiency, and luxury. The premium enhancements and striking aesthetics, paired with advanced safety and tech features, cement its status as a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
